Firstly, please allow me to say how grateful I am that you are considering me to undertake a commissioned piece of art for you. Prior to any agreement between us, I'd like to discover a little more about your proposed artwork so that I can better understand your expectations with the aim of meeting them to the best of my ability.

Please answer as many questions as you can, they are certainly not obligatory and merely designed as a discovery process so will greatly help;

Commission Questions

What helped you to decide to approach me about creating an artwork for you?

What subject have you chosen for your proposed artwork?

Would you like your subject to have a background (may incur an additional fee), which can be decided upon between us if you don't know?

How many high-quality images of your subject do you have, that you are willing to share with me?

What is your deadline for this artwork, if you have one, or do you have a rough indication of when you might like the piece completed by?

What size would you like this artwork to be, either framed or unframed? (Have you decided where you would like it to hang?)

Would you like to frame the artwork yourself, or would you like me to arrange framing at cost for you? (I charge a nominal fee for my time spent framing but the actual frame is at cost to you) Please bear in mind, delivery charges may apply.

Where are you planning to place this artwork? This could be somewhere in your home, office or anywhere else.

What budget have you considered, if any, for the completion of this piece?

What medium would you prefer your artwork to be in; Graphite / Charcoal or a combination of both? Would you like any Sepia infused tonal areas within the piece? (Please state 'Any' if you're not sure or don't mind)

Are you happy to confer with me in relation to the design of the piece? I.e; Would you like some input on how your piece is composed?

Do you require someone to install the artwork for you in your home?

Do you have any examples of how you would like your finished artwork to look? Any particular styles that you are aware of or similar pieces that you may have seen? (Please email to me)

When would you ideally like me to start work on this piece for you?

I charge a 25% deposit which will require your approval and payment prior to starting work on your artwork, is this something you are comfortable with?

Once I have received your answers to all or some of the above questions, depending on the type of artwork you have asked for, I may make a mock up or rough sketch to ascertain your feedback about my ideas. This will give us an opportunity to discuss any ideas of your own that you might want to contribute. I want to help you realise your vision for your artwork to the best of my ability.

You will be notified when work begins and as per our agreement you will receive regular updates to demonstrate progress. At certain intervals it may be necessary for me to include you in some of the decisions to be made so that I am able to confirm you are happy for me to proceed. This can be done via Zoom or by way of emailing you pictures of my progress but whenever possible, I try to keep this to a minimum so that I can surprise you with the finished piece. It is at these junctures that you may glean an opportunity to make any changes or to offer any input you may want.
